MANDRAKE VOL. I
Mandrake Vol.1 is an action short film directed by Muhil Vaseekaran. The film follows two lovers who must take down a villain who carries a USB device that holds God itself. This project started as a love letter to Mission Impossible, John Woo’s action cinema, and Terrence Malick. The action genre has been plagued by macho stereotypes over the years and therefore the film places a great emphasis on the queer relationship at the center of the story. While there are many bombastic action sequences in the film (choreographed by Ian Dugan), the budget ended up at $1,200. The film is currently picture-locked and is undergoing a sound mix. The film was made with the involvement of the entire Trustfall Team with Liam Podos as director of photography, Jake Shoop as gaffer, and Samuel Mitchell as 1st Assistant Camera. The film aims for release in early 2025.
